Graduation Photo Sittings – Bookings Open 

Ernest Manning Grad photo sittings will take place at the school November 14-29. Please see this link for information on booking a time slot for your graduate. * Please remember to arrive at your session at least 5 minutes prior to the start time.

Parent Council Meeting Wednesday, November 20 

Our next Parent Council Meeting will take place Wednesday, November 20 at 6 pm via Teams. To register for the meeting, please fill out this brief form. A link to the virtual meeting will be sent to you shortly beforehand. Please see the agendas for the Parent Advisory Committee and the School Council. Everyone is invited to attend. 

EMHS Music Society News

Bundle Up Tight, it's Winter Concert Night, Friday December 6, at The Rozsa Center in the Eckhardt Gramatte Hall at 7:00pm. Pre-purchased tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors, https://theatre-tickets.ucalgary.ca/?tx=97801, $20/15 at the door. Attendees are treated to a diverse program that blends classical pieces with contemporary favorites celebrating winter, creating a memorable experience that captures the essence of the holiday season.

Flex Day November 28

We look forward to hosting a Flex Day on November 28th from 9 am to 2 pm. Flex Day is an opportunity for students to design their own schedule, visit with teachers they need to, in order to:

  1. Reassess learning outcomes you now understand better
  2. Complete missed assignments / recover missing credits
  3. Attend focused lessons on concepts you don’t understand well

Attendance is not taken on Flex Days – students make appointments with teachers they need to see. *** If a student is not passing a course, students will be invited (and parents emailed) to attend Flex Day to get caught up and move to passing status.

Does my child have to attend? Not unless formally invited (not currently passing).

Can my child go to school that day to study? Yes. Cafeteria and Learning Commons are both spots students can gather to study and eat ramen or other favourite snack.

December 11 Academic Awards

December 11, 2024 at 6pm is hosting an Academic Awards Ceremony for the 2023-24 school year. Invitations have been sent to the Recipient’s families and graduated students. Please RSVP to the invitation by November 29, 2024. Please contact Ms Hood at  hehood@cbe.ab.ca with any questions regarding these awards.

January Diploma Exam Writers

Students taking a Diploma course this semester at another school/ school board (cbelearn, Vista Virtual, Golden Hills etc.)  will be registered to write their exams at Manning, believing that a student’s home school is the best location to do so. Please have your child check in with Ms. Waringer to ensure he/she is on the list to write at Manning. Don’t want to miss anyone. If you prefer to have your child write at the alternative school, please send me an email at jowaringer@cbe.ab.ca and we will remove them from our registration. Students re-writing diploma exams will have to pay the 27$ fee through MyPass before being able to register.

Robotics Parent Involvement Opportunities

Ernest Manning is fortunate to be able to participate at the highest level of Robotics of any school in Calgary, First Robotics.  This year for the first time, we will be sending two teams to compete against schools and clubs from around the world, gaining important international experience.

Running a robust Robotics program cannot take place without parent involvement. Please consider one of the many opportunities to support our program here.
