Work Experience 15/25/35
Work Experience 15/25/35 allows you to earn high school credits for the hours you work at your job. To track your progress, you’ll submit weekly timesheets and meet with me regularly. Your assessment will be based on a student learning plan developed with your employer, their evaluations, personal reflections and observations during site visits and check-ins.
Work Experience can begin at any time during the year, but hours cannot be counted retroactively. Your hours will only start accumulating once you, your employer, parent/guardians and off-campus coordinator sign the off-campus agreement, and a site visit is conducted and approved.
- 75 hours = 3 credits (minimum)
- Every additional 25 hours = 1 credit (a maximum of 10 credits per work experience level)
- Students may earn up to 30 credits in work experience, but the number of work experience credits that may be counted toward the Alberta High School Diploma is 15.
Before you can start Work Experience, you must complete HCS 3000 (Workplace Safety), an online course that takes approximately two hours. This course is worth 1 high school credit, and your mark will appear on your transcript.
