Design & Architecture

Unleash your creativity and explore the transformative power of design! This dynamic course delves into the principles, theories, and real-world applications of design across various disciplines—including animation, architectural, product, interior, graphic, and digital design. Through hands-on projects, critical analysis, and exploration of emerging trends, students will develop problem-solving skills, aesthetic sensibilities, and an understanding of how design influences culture, technology, and society.

From ideation to execution, this course challenges students to think like designers, pushing the boundaries of innovation while mastering essential tools and methodologies. Whether you aspire to be a designer, a creative strategist, or an innovator in any field, Design + Architecture will empower you to craft meaningful and impactful solutions in an ever-evolving world.

Working together to develop solutions and provide constructive feedback, you will be able to resolve your final products before assessment. Many types of industry-standard tools and design software will be utilized throughout the 3-year program, including Autodesk Revit, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, as well as animation tools in Blender.

Taking risks with project ideas is encouraged during the development stages, as you develop mastery skills to construct, model, render, and animate. Alternatively, you can choose to pursue independent studies at the senior level to explore two major fields: Architectural Design and 3D Animation, or 3D Digital Game Art.

Are you ready to design the future? Let’s get started!

This course offers exploratory modules in Design Studies, aligning with Learning Outcomes from the MDC Alberta Curriculum. In each level of Design + Architecture, students will have the opportunity to earn five (5) – one credit courses.
