One way parents/guardians can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on our school’s parent society. Parent societies are a formal group of parents, incorporated under the Societies Act for the purpose of raising funds for the school. A society is a separate legal entity from the school council. More information can be found in our CBE Administrative Regulation 5001 – School Councils and School/Parent Societies.

December 2023 Update

Request for Robotics funding has been approved, for approximately $20,000. At the last meeting, there was an in-person presentation from the Robotics Club. The 2 machines requested will benefit multiple groups and classes in the school. Funding requests come from the staff to the principal, and the requests are presented to the PAC for discussion. Then the executive votes on them.

The school has booked the New Blood production, an Indigenous musical presentation for students.

Presentation of New Funding Request: Cross-country skis and boots (class set) for the PE program and the Outdoor Education - upwards of about 1,000 students. Cost is about $19,000 new and $7,000 for second-hand. In comparison, rentals each year would amount to about $21,000. This is a one-time funding request. School would be responsible for upkeep. Perhaps council will be approached for ever-greening in the future. There are a couple cross-country ski courses that the students could go to.
