Valedictorian & Graduation Speaker Application
ESTABLISHED GUIDELINES and SELECTION CRITERIA
Purpose:
This application is for students interested having a speaking role at either the Graduation Ceremony or Graduation Banquet. When applying to be a graduation speaker you are applying for all the following:
Graduation Ceremony May 11, 2026 9 am – 11 am
- Valedictorian
- Master of Ceremonies
- Acknowledgement of the Land
Graduation Banquet May 11, 2026 5:30 pm – 11 pm
- Acknowledgement of the Land
- Master of Ceremonies (2 speakers)
- Class Historians (2 speakers)
- Toast to Parents
- Toast to Teachers
Eligibility
Any Graduation Speaker Roles, including the Valedictorian, is a member of the graduating class who is an outstanding representative of both the student body and the community. The Graduation Speakers not only exemplify academic excellence but also excellence in citizenship and community involvement.
The applicant:
(1) must have at least an 80% average for each year as an Ernest Manning student.
(2) must be involved in some form of extra-curricular OR community activities, which should be explained in an attached written account.
(3) must have been a student enrolled at Ernest Manning High School for at least two years, including the current school year.
Requirements
Completed Google form application, which included:
(1) academic transcripts that include first semester marks (You may obtain this from PowerSchool).
(2) a written account regarding involvement in activities within the school, community and/or employment.
a 500-word (minimum) application speech that could be considered a valedictory address.
Process
All of the aforementioned documents are due into the Main Office as the timeline provided. Once confirmation of eligibility is determined, applicants will receive information via e-mail. Friday February 6, 2026 If no conclusive decision can be reached at this time, a second round of speeches may be scheduled at a yet to be determined date.
