Happy Sunday! You may want to grab your favourite morning beverage for this edition of the Weekly Rundown as it is chock full of information we hope you will find helpful. Perhaps most importantly is the resumption of Cafeteria Services for the 2026/27 School Year!!
Culinary Weekly Menu
Our chefs Champ and Peña, along with instructors Chef Gillian and Chef Robert have been preparing students for this semester’s food service. Along with a wide variety of sandwiches, salads, sweet treats and beverages, here is the hot menu for the week:
Monday, September 14: Poutine - Fries, Cheese Curds, Gravy
Tuesday, September 15: Penne Bolognaise, Garlic Baguette
Wednesday, September 16: Overnight Smoked Pork Shoulder on a Potato Bun, Mac & Cheese, Coleslaw
Thursday, September 17: Taco Bowl - Seasoned Ground Beef, Rice, Tomato, Lettuce, Cheddar, Sour Cream in a Fried Tortilla Bowl
Request from Calgary Transit
Our community partner, Calgary Transit has reached out to request that families not park or stop in transit bus stops, as it results in travel delays for passengers. When dropping off or picking up students, we ask that you used the roundabout at the front of the school, or the driveway at the back of the school. Please refrain from stopping on 69th Street as this is unsafe for travellers.
Annual Volunteer Registration Required for All School Volunteers
To ensure the safety and security of CBE students and staff, all volunteers must be registered with the school each school year before participating in volunteer activities.
The Annual Volunteer Registration Form is valid for the current school year only. All volunteers, including returning volunteers, must complete a new registration form each school year before participating in volunteer activities.
Parents and guardians can register as volunteers through the SchoolEngage tab in their MyCBE account. As part of the registration process, all volunteers must review the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) requirements and sign to indicate their agreement with the conditions outlined in the form.
New This Year | Community members who do not have a child registered with CBE must complete their volunteer registration in person at the school where they wish to volunteer.

High School Orientation September 24
We look forward to the first opportunity of the 2026/27 School year to welcome families to learn more about Ernest Manning High School and how we work in partnership with you in the education of your child.
Our High School Orientation evening (Meet the Teacher) will take place on Thursday, September 24 from 6 pm to 8 pm, where you will have a chance to put faces to names, receive key messages, and meet with each of your child’s teachers. Doors will be open at 5:30 to give you an opportunity to check out our Student – Led Clubs Fair going on on Main Street.
Evening Schedule
5:30- 6pm – Clubs Fair on Main Street
6:00-6:30 – Key message in main gym
6:30- 8:00 – follow your child’s timetable and meet each teacher
8:00 pm – presentation on Advanced Placement (AP) courses
In addition, two of our Parent Associations will meet as follows:

EMHS School Council Corner
Just a reminder to all parents/ caregivers of our our first council meeting of the year this Wednesday, September 16 at 6pm. This meeting will be both virtual and in-person. Please use this link to register to attend. In addition, the Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 14 at 6 pm.
2025/26 Yearbooks Are In!
2025-26 yearbooks were handed out in your child’s Period 3 class this week. If your child had a Period 3 spare, please direct him/her to go to Room 2304 on Wednesday, Sept 16th at LUNCH for pick up. Graduated students can pick up their yearbooks from Mrs. O’How in the main office starting Monday, September 14th.

Clubs Fair Wednesday September 23 and Thursday September 24
Clubs are a wonderful way to get involved in the life of the school, and for students to find peers with similar interests. This year’s much anticipated Clubs Fair will be happening for students on Main Street Wednesday Sept 23 at lunch, Thursday, Sept 24 at lunch, and Thursday from 5:30 to 6 for High School Orientation. Students who wish to start a club, or continue a previous one, are asked to fill out the QR code on the television screens throughout the school to start the process.
November Diploma Exam Sign Up
For those students who wish to write a November diploma exam for a course they have previously completed, sign up is available through the QR code displayed on the television screens throughout the school. Students fill out the form and attend an information meeting with Ms. Waringer on Tuesday, September 29 at lunch in the Learning Commons, at which time they will be officially registered to write the exam, and given the date, time and location.
Off Campus Corner
High School students earn credits towards graduation through a variety of Unique Pathways: apprenticeships, exploratory trade programs, dual-credit opportunities with post-secondary institutions, work experience. All of these opportunities are explained here.

There will be a meeting at lunch on Monday Sept. 14th in Rm. 2106 for students currently registered in or interested in Work Experience.
School Finder Fair
Saturday, September 26 | SchoolFinder Fair
- 1pm-5pm at the WinSport Event Centre
- A free public fair for students exploring universities, colleges, gap years, and work/study abroad options.
- ScholarshipsCanada will run a live presentation from 12pm-1pm.

RBC Next Step Scholarships - RBC Royal Bank
The RBC Ignite Scholarship will award 500 scholarships annually valued up to $1,500 each to help youth access new skills and training. Hands-on training (vocational or trade programs), skills-building courses and job-ready certifications.
Loran Scholarships
Up to 36 Loran Awards are available to students entering university in the fall of 2027 who distinguish themselves through their strength of character, commitment to service, and intrinsic sense of values-driven leadership. Loran Awards consist of:
- An annual stipend of $12,000
- A full tuition waiver annually, tenable at one of Loran’s partner universities.
- Up to $14,000 for the summer experiential learning program
