EMHS Weekly Rundown | September 28- Oct 2
Good morning Griffin families!
There was such a positive buzz in the school on Thursday evening for High School Orientation/ Meet the Teacher. Students sharing extra-curricular opportunities, conversations with the folks from Unique Pathways, our Music and Robotics Parent Associations, an Advanced Placement presentation and of course our Culinary students showcasing their first catering of the year – all that and an opportunity to meet teachers and learn how to best support high school learners. We hope you had as great a time attending as we did hosting.
EMTV Season 11 Premiere!
Our broadcast journalism students under the leadership of Mr. Nikiforuk are excited to start this season of EMTV with the first broadcast of the season tomorrow, September 28. EMTV is a student-to-student program that is shown each day at the start of period one and two classes and highlights events and topics of interest to Manning students. A summary of the week’s broadcasts is shared in successive Weekly Rundowns.
Communication With the School
In order to streamline and get your communication to the best person, we have updated our Communication Cheat-Sheet here.
High School Course Mark Overall Grade Calculation
Throughout each high school course, students and families will continue to receive information about assignments, assessments, and teacher feedback. This information helps students understand how they are doing, recognize their progress, and know what they can do next to improve.
Overall Course Grades will be shared five weeks into each semester (October 5 for Semester 1 and March 8 for Semester 2) By this time, teachers have gathered enough evidence of learning to provide an accurate picture of a student’s learning and achievement. Earlier in the semester, a small number of assignments can have a large impact on a student’s overall grade and may not yet reflect their learning accurately.
Waiting to share an Overall Course Grade helps students focus on learning and feedback rather than changes in a number. Our goal is for students to understand their progress, celebrate their growth, and know their next steps. Keeping the focus on learning and growth supports both student achievement and well-being.
Culinary Menu
In addition to all the made-in-house salads, sandwiches and sweet treats, here is the hot food menu for the upcoming week:
