Our school will be temporarily closed starting Monday, October 6, 2025 due to labour action. As such, any dates shared in this weekly are tentative, and may change depending on when the school reopens.

SCHOOL COUNCIL CONNECTIONS 

Volunteers needed!!! EMHS Casino Fundraiser - Oct 24 & 25, 2025 @ Cowboys Casino, 421 12 Ave SE, Calgary 

The EMHS Casino is the biggest fundraiser for our school community and benefits all students through funding of various school-based initiatives, from academics, sports and arts to student support. This fundraiser is organised by the EMHS Parent Advisory Committee. Please come out and show your support for our amazing school community by signing up for one of the volunteer spots.  Changes to Key Book Ordering 

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the EMPower Store will soon no longer be able to sell Key Books.  Please read this document to learn about important changes made by Castle Rock, the publisher of Key Books. Deadline to order using the attached document has been extended to October 10.   

OFF-CAMPUS CORNER 

EMHS students can find success through various off-campus programs, courses, and industry exposure. Here are just some of the opportunities open to our students: 

  • Exploratory Programs each semester and in Summer with Industry Professionals 
  • More CTS courses offered through the CT Centre 
  • Dual credit programs with post-secondary universities and colleges 
  • Apprenticeships  
  • Work Experience credits for existing employment 

SAIT OPEN HOUSE 

On Friday, October 17 and Saturday, October 18, SAIT will host its Open House, an opportunity for students to tour the school, take part in hands-on demonstrations, ask questions and learn about all the amazing, industry-leading programs SAIT offers. Plus, the campus is just a train ride away!

CHILD AND YOUTH WELL-BEING CAREGIVER SERIES

PARENT-TEACHER INTERVIEWS  

We look forward to welcoming our parents and families back to EMHS for our first round of Parent Teacher interviews scheduled on Thursday, October 16 from 5-8 pm (in person) and on Monday, October 20 from 9 am to noon for online interviews. Ms. O’How will send out a notification regarding when conferences will be open for booking.   

FLEX DAY OCTOBER 16 

We look forward to our first Flex Day of the school year on Thursday Oct 16 from 9 am to 3 pm, an opportunity for students to design their own learning for the day, with opportunities to check in with teachers to review concepts, complete missing work and reassess outcomes. Teachers will provide students with their availability on Flex Day so they can best organize their day. In addition, we will have sessions taking place across the school such as HCS 3000 course completion, navigating the AP Exam online platform, setting up a MyPass account, and a First Aid course, amongst others. No attendance is taken on Flex Day, but students are invited to use the day to focus on what they need to promote their own success. The Learning Commons will also be open all day for students to study with their buddies.  

EMHS ATHLETICS WEEKLY RUNDOWN 

Please see the attached memo from the CSHSAA Executive Director, which provides more information regarding the anticipated job action and its impact on athletics.  

EMHS SPEED MENTORING DAY NEEDS YOU – COME MENTOR OUR YOUTH! 

We are looking forward to our EMHS Speed Mentoring Day on March 19, 2026, a day during which students can explore career interests with mentors working in the field. No preparation is necessary on the part of mentors – just your wisdom and experience.
