EMHS WEEKLY RUNDOWN MAY 4 - MAY 8

Good morning Griffin families,

If I could title this edition of the Rundown, it would be called Spring has Sprung. We welcome the warm weather and the fresh grass and leaves that are sprouting which signal many beautiful days ahead. While the change in the seasons can be distracting, it is important for students to stay focused on their school commitments to their coursework and to each other. As we are now in the final 5 weeks of classes, let’s work together to make the end of this school year positive and productive. Summer’s coming.

As a complement to all the detailed information found on the Ernest Manning High School website, here is your Weekly Rundown.

EMTV – EM DAILY Weekly

Want to get up to speed on all the informative daily broadcasts from last week? Here is the weekly summary of all the goings-on at Manning.

PARENT COUNCIL CORNER

Please see message below on behalf of School Council:

Good morning Ernest Manning Families!

We want to thank the Manning community for surpassing our fundraising goal for the Staff Appreciation Lunch which will take place on Friday, May 22. Go Griffins!

ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING MODULAR CLASSROOMS

We are pleased to share that the Government of Alberta has approved new modular classrooms for Ernest Manning High School.  These classrooms will provide approximately 180 additional student spaces at the school.

The modular classrooms were approved in response to the Calgary Board of Education’s annual request through the Modular Classroom Program. If you have any questions, please contact [facilityprojects@cbe.ab.ca]facilityprojects@cbe.ab.ca.

BIKE / SCOOTER LOCK UP

Last week, 40% of bikes in our bike rack had U-Locks or other theft-deterrent chains. 100% of bikes taken to date have had cable locks. Can you spot the pattern?

Unfortunately Ernest Manning is not immune from bike and scooter thefts. Though we are able to capture video surveillance of the theft to aid in recovery, the best way to deter thieves is to secure your bike with a U-lock or other theft-deterrant lock. For more information consult this article from Bike Calgary. Love your bike? Lock it right!
