It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the Manning hallways, with lots of decorating and fundraising (go Leadership class and Volunteer Club!) to put everyone in the spirit of the season. We have two full weeks of classes before the break and are looking forward to balancing student learning with plenty of seasonal good cheer.

SUPPORTING MANNING FAMILIES AT THE HOLIDAYS
If you are looking for a giving-back opportunity this Christmas, please consider the Ernest Manning account at Education Matters. Funds are used to support initiatives at the school, and tax receipts are issued. If you are pursuing this option, please indicate in the comment section of the account that it is for families in need. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
PARENT COUNCIL CONNECTIONS
Notice from the EMHS Council and Parent Advisory Council Committee for the December 17th meeting. There will be a special resolution discussed to change the meeting schedule to 6 meetings this year due to teachers strike and the AGM being postponed. The remaining meeting for the 2025/2026 year will be:
- December 17 (Virtual)
- February 18 (Face-to-face/virtual)
- March 18 (Face-to-face/virtual)
- May 20 (Face-to-face/virtual)

For all other course changes please fill out the Course Change/Request form which will open on December 15, 2025
Grade 11s who wish to request a CBE Learn course for Semester 2- please fill out the same form mentioned above.
Semester 2 Timetable Changes/Requests-students, to request all changes, (including CBE Learn) through the Course Change/Request Form which will be available on December 15 to students (posters, portals and on Instagram). This form will remain open until the end of January. Requests will be processed after the Winter Break.

VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS: DRAMA 30 DIRECTOR'S PROJECTS
On Wednesday December 10 from 4:30-5:30, the Drama 30 students will be showcasing their Director's Projects in the Theatre. This is the culminating task for Drama 30, as students are responsible for all aspects of directing a short play—casting, designing, rehearsing, and seeing their artistic vision come to life. There will be five short plays presented in this performance and admission is free—all are welcome to come out and support this student-created work!
VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS: SPRING PRODUCTION UPDATE
The VPA Department is proud to announce that our Spring Production this year will be Alice in Wonderland. Auditions occurred last month, and the cast list will be posted outside the Theatre on Monday, December 8. The play will be performed in the Theatre on April 14, 15, and 16. Please stay tuned for ticketing information—we can't wait for you to see what we have in store!
EMHS SPEED MENTORING
Thank you to all those who have already volunteered for our EMHS Speed Mentoring Day on March 19, 2026.

EMHS ATHLETICS WEEKLY RUNDOWN
Volleyball
We are incredibly proud of our Sr. Girls Volleyball team for their performance at the 5A provincials! Congratulations on a fantastic season and on bringing Ernest Manning volleyball back into provincial competition.
Football
Congratulations to our Senior Football team on winning the 5A Alberta Bowl Provincial Championship and the CSHSAA Division 1 City Championship. We're so proud of the team for all the hard work they put in to achieve their goal!
Wrestling
Griffins, we want you to join our wrestling team! Ernest Manning wrestling is a non-cut team, and we're looking for student-athletes of all abilities who want to try wrestling and have some fun! Practices run Tuesday morning from 7:00 am- 8:15 and Thursday morning from 3:40-5:00 pm. Please contact Ms. Perry for more details!
Swimming
Good luck to our swim team in their City Championship meet on Wednesday, December 11 at Brookfield YMCA. This team has been dedicated with early morning practices all season long. Can't wait to see the team in action!
