THURSDAY MARCH 19 FLEX DAY OPPORTUNITIES
Thursday, March 19 will be a Flex Day for students. Teachers prioritize opportunities for continued learning and reassessment. While attendance is not mandatory, teachers proactively reach out to all students to inform them of these opportunities:
- Credit rescue;
- Targeted support or intervention;
- Targeted assistance with assignment completion for specific outcomes.
We will also be hosting our first-ever Speed Mentoring Day, an opportunity for students to sign up for various Q&A sessions with YOU and folks like you – to ask questions about your chosen career path. So far we have mentors from across employment sectors. If you would still like to participate as a mentor you may do so until today using this link. Speed Mentoring sign up will open to students on Tuesday, March 10. Mentors will be sent their schedule that day as well.
More Flex Day Opportunities
Industry Certification
Students will have an opportunity on March 19 to complete industry safety certifications for credit that will help them become career-ready for trades pathways. Please reach out to Mr. Chambers at mjchambers@cbe.ab.ca to arrange this opportunity.
First Aid Certification
Students will have the opportunity to complete a first aid course that will certify them in basic First Aid/CPR/ AED and earn a high school credit for their work. This Course will run for the full day of Thursday March 19 2026 9am-4pm. In addition to the in-class portion there is also some online course work that need to be completed prior to the 19 in order to do the in person section.
The Cost of the Course is $105 which will be added to your PowerSchool. This is completely OPTIONAL however, It can be helpful for students applying to summer jobs and also helpful incase of an unexpected emergency. If you would like your student to complete this course please fill out the following form! the first 30 students to be signed up will be selected and you will receive a follow up email shortly.

PARENT COUNCIL CONNECTIONS
This is a reminder of our next meeting of School Council and Parent Advisory Committee, taking place on Wednesday, March 18, both virtually and in-person. Please use this link to register. At this meeting, we will also be sharing information about school planning and asking you to share your perspectives. You will have the opportunity to learn about:
- School planning, which includes the school development plan, school budget and school fees
- How the school development plan sets the overall focus and direction for a school to improve student learning outcomes

- School fees and why they are necessary

- Our EM wrestling team had a very successful showing at last week's CSHSAA City Championship! Five Griffins will be moving on to the SSA Provincials in Medicine Hat on Friday March 13th.
