CLAC and Ledcor sponsored 16 Ernest Manning students to travel Edmonton to compete in the Skills Canada Alberta Provincial Competition on May 7-9, 2024. Skills Canada Alberta seeks to promote skilled trades and technologies. The goals are to promote career pathways in trades and technology and work to enhance the quality of technological education. Calgary Construction Association supported the transportation of students to travel to Edmonton for a day to cheer on our EM Skills team and participate in Skills City.
This year we had 22 students competing in 14 competition events at the Calgary Regional Skills Canada Competition and the Provincial Skill Canada Alberta Competition. The EM Skills team achieved 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals, 2 bronze, and 4 Safety Awards. Web Design and Development and Workplace Safety have progressed to the 2024 Skills Canada National Competition in Quebec City and will represent Alberta on the national stage as #TeamAB with Skills Canada Alberta.
The EM Skills team won medals in ten competitions this year.
